Tom Monroe

For Generis senior strategist Tom Monroe, perhaps the most important qualities he brings to his work as a consultant are an ability to motivate and an ability to communicate with the full spectrum of church leaders and lay people, in ways that create lasting relationships with those he serves.

Formerly a pastor with 12 years of ministry at churches in Louisiana and Texas, Tom earned his master's degree in theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After four years as a pastor in New Orleans, he spent his next eight years as a pastor at Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Longview, Texas, where he led his congregation's growth from an average of fewer than 300 each Sunday to more than 800 by the end of his tenure.

It was during his years with Oakland Heights that Tom helped lead his first stewardship campaign and building project, an event that he later realized was the defining moment that led him into his stewardship ministry in 1988. Though at the time he had only his own experiences upon which to draw, since then Tom has worked as a consultant on more than 150 campaigns, which have raised more than $250 million for his clients.
