Kent Burklow
“The Generis team shares a unique kindred spirit. Each of us has an established track record of success, making us organizationally unlike any group in this ministry. Our ability to learn and share insights collectively has put us well ahead of those who execute capital campaigns as a mechanical process. Our excellence is evident in our people, our materials and the continued success of our clients. We give our absolute best in every area of service.”
More than 60 successful church giving campaigns and 20 years as a top business executive have led Kent Burklow to appreciate the value of both action and restraint. He’s confident in his approach, but he also knows how to listen fully, perceive any uncertainty, and refrain from always giving the right answer when a question is posed. Allowing church leaders to arrive at the best solution through directed, collective thought assures a more committed success at every level.
This skill in consensus-building is a hallmark of Kent’s ministry to churches like Mulberry Street United Methodist in Macon, GA, which raised $8 million in renovation and follow-up campaigns. Experienced in new construction, facility renovation, debt reduction and endowment campaigns, Kent knows how to motivate a congregation. But he’s also a strong advocate for ministry expansion and evangelism at the ground level, noting that it’s easy for church leaders to focus substantial energy on building facilities when one should naturally precede the other.
Kent served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of an Atlanta-based healthcare company in his business career. Today, he’s committed to his stewardship ministry full time, but also serves as a trustee for a private foundation, which funds educational scholarships for Christian families. Over the years, Kent says, he is learning to rely less on his business instincts and more on the decisive power of prayer to discern where God is leading him in this work.
